Waxing and Threading FAQs
-
No, waxing is not a permanent hair removal solution. Since the waxing process pulls the hair directly from the root, it will take much longer for the hair to grow back compared to shaving. Typically, you will start to see hair growth within 3 to 6 weeks after your waxing session.
-
While not an immediately permanent solution, years of routine waxing can damage the hair follicles enough that the hair will become thin and eventually stop growing altogether. If you have thin or very fine hair, it can take as little as 8 months of regular sessions to see a permanent change in your hair growth.
-
Waxing will obviously hurt more than shaving, but it is not as painful as many people believe it to be. If done quickly and correctly, waxing will feel similar to pulling off a bandage. Additionally, the more frequently you get waxed, the less painful each session will be.
-
Strip wax is what most people will think of when they imagine waxing. A thin, runny wax will be applied to the treatment area using a wooden spatula. Immediately after, your waxer will rub a disposable strip over the wax, and then quickly pull the strip off to remove the hair. This method is typically used to treat hair on the arms or legs.
Hot wax uses a thicker, sticky wax that hardens after being applied. The hard wax will be pulled off in one piece, without the need for a strip. Hot wax is typically used for sensitive skin or areas with thicker hair, such as the underarms, face, or bikini line.
-
Depending on the part of the body you are getting waxed, it is best to wait 2 to 5 weeks between sessions. The underarms, face, or bikini area can be waxed every 2 to 3 weeks, while patients who have their legs or arms waxed can typically wait 3 to 5 weeks before their next appointment.
